After heading to space in Anno 2205, Ubisoft’s city-building real-time strategy series goes back to the 19th century with Anno 1800.
A new CGI trailer from Ubisoft (embedded below) reveals an Industrial Age setting for Anno 1800. The game will launch for PC sometime in Winter 2018.
Anno 1800 allows players to decide their own playstyle with a goal of building “an empire that will stand the test of time.” “Are you renovator or exploiter? Suppressor or liberator? It’s up to you how the world will remember your name,” said the developers in a blog post.
Anno 1800 will be present at Gamescom 2017 in the Ubisoft Lounge from August 22 to 26. With the game still in pre-alpha, attendees will only be given a hands-off presentation and an opportunity to ask questions to development team Blue Byte.
In a separate video, Blue Byte detailed the Anno Union, a program that allows fans to “shape the future of the franchise” by giving them access to Anno 1800 early to provide feedback. The most active and dedicated member will be granted a chance to play the game as early as 2017.
Shortly after the game’s reveal, Ubisoft opened the first Anno Union community votation, allowing players to choose one of six NPCs for a guaranteed appearance in the full game. The candidates include Artur Gasparov, Hafsa Sultan, Jacob Turner, Florence Morel, Silas Grendel, and Dr. Hugo Mercier.
