What Remains of Edith Finch, the latest mystery-narrative adventure from Giant Sparrow, will release on Xbox One on July 19, 2017.
The game follows the eponymous Edith Finch as she explores her family’s home and uncovers the tragic stories of her forebears, which have been plagued by untimely deaths for several generations. The family’s tendency to board up bedrooms as each family members passes results in a uniquely-crafted environment that excellently balances the sense of mystery and family drama.
To celebrate the new launch, the developers have released a short new video showing off examples of gameplay alongside some of the numerous accolades that the game has already received:
What Remains of Edith Finch launched on PC and PlayStation 4 in April and is one of the most highly regarded releases of 2017 on both platforms, according to Metacritic.
Originally announced as a PlayStation 4 exclusive set to be published by Sony, the game suffered a long silence following its initial unveiling in 2014 before resurfacing late in 2016 under the newly-formed Annapurna Interactive. Despite being a new publisher, Annapurna Interactive is already making waves as a supporter of intriguing indie games, with the musical platformer The Artful Escape and open-world survival RPG Ashen on its upcoming slate.
