Volition’s Agents of Mayhem Out in August, New Trailer Released

Agents of Mayhem

Agents of Mayhem, the next title from Saints Row developer Volition, is set for release on August 15 (August 18 in Europe), according to the game’s publisher Deep Silver.

The game is a spin-off of the Saints Row series, exchanging the U.S. setting of previous games for a futuristic version of Seoul, South Korea. This shift in locale is accompanied by a shift in focus, as Agents of Mayhem will place players in control of the eponymous group of peacekeepers as they seek to bring down an evil organisation called LEGION.

In keeping with this theme, the game will comprise of a series of missions, with players able to choose three characters (of a roster of twelve) for each mission. Each character will have a unique set of abilities that should be taken into consideration to determine the best approach to handle any given situation. In addition to these skills, players will have access to a vast array of weaponry, vehicles, and buffs, which should help to keep the gameplay fresh for the duration of the experience.

To coincide with today’s announcement, Deep Silver has released a new trailer showcasing the game’s premise, and an array of characters and gameplay mechanics:

Agents of Mayhem was first announced during E3 last year. Although the game is not officially a part of the Saints Row saga, it does retain the same irreverent tone that made Volition’s series adored by its fan, and also keeps the same heritage of a strong open-world single-player atmosphere.

Early impressions of the game have been mixed, but the team still has a few months to add polish to the game to ensure that it achieves the heights that it so clearly aspires towards.

Agents of Mayhem is set for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. More specific details and the game’s debut trailer can be found here.
