Big Star Games today revealed the official cinematic trailer for Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days, alongside a May 18 release date.
Loosely based on the 1992 Quentin Tarantino film of the same name, Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days is a top-down shooter set during the lead-up to the film’s diamond store robbery. Players can take the role of up to three “Dogs,” including Mr Blonde, Mr Blue, Mr Brown, Mr Orange, Mr Pink, and Mr White, on eighteen separate heists.
An innovative feature is the game’s “Time Back” mechanic, which allows players to reverse time at any point to re-adjust strategy by placing another character in a new position to overcome obstacles, as demonstrated in the below trailer:
Although many have criticised that the game differs significantly from the film, including how the game, unlike the movie, will be more focused on action than dialogue, initial impressions have been positive. Game Skinny praised its solid core mechanics and the “Time Back” mechanic, while Rock, Paper, Shotgun commended its “genuinely smart tactical system.”
Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days will be available on Steam from May 18, and looks to have an Xbox One release later in 2017.
