Telltale Games has announced new seasons of three of its most popular franchises in its Summer 2017 update.
First comes the announcement for Season 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series. Ominously subtitled The Enemy Within, the second season will continue Bruce Wayne’s journey as he unravels the truth behind his family history. The game will also feature the Riddler as the main antagonist, although the reveal strongly hints that the Joker come into his own this season. The first episode is due for an August 8 release on consoles, PCs, and mobile devices.
Secondly, the fourth season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead has also been announced. Be warned, however, as the update video (and this paragraph) contains some major spoilers for the first three seasons of The Walking Dead. The fourth season will feature series protagonist Clementine as a playable character once more. The focus will be on Clem’s search for AJ and what she will do to keep him safe, echoing Lee’s desire to protect Clem back in season 1. This will reportedly be the final season for Telltale’s The Walking Dead franchise, meaning that anything can happen and nobody is safe. A 2018 release date is expected, with more details to come.
Finally, The Wolf Among Us will get a second series after a significant wait. Many readers might be unaware of the series, as the first season was first released way back in 2013, but The Wolf Among Us stood out as a unique animal. Combining a classic detective story with a cast of fairy-tale creatures, the game had a great story rooted in real human emotion that could rival The Walking Dead, far from the tongue-in-cheek atmosphere many might have expected. Few details have been dropped for the upcoming season, besides the fact that it will be a standalone adventure separate from Season One and will, again, focus on Bigby Wolf’s struggle with his dual nature. The long-awaited second season will come out sometime in 2018, five years after the release of the first series.
