The Tekken series is one of the premier fighting game franchises of all time, and it is finally being made available to gamers everywhere.
Initially released as an arcade game in Japan on March 18, 2015, Tekken 7 is the ninth installment in the Tekken series. It is being developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game, like its predecessors, features one-on-one fighting and is equipped with a roster of at least ten playable characters, at least one of which is a crossover character from other fighting games (Akuma from Street Fighter). According to the game’s producer, Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken 7’s story is said to be the darkest of the series, closest in nature to that of Tekken 4. Tekken 7 is slated to release worldwide on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 2, 2017.
The Tekken franchise made its debut in December 1994. The series is produced by Bandai Namco Entertainment (formerly Namco) in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment (now Sony Interactive Entertainment). The franchise’s story revolves around a fierce fighting tournament hosted by the Mishima Zaibatsu corporation. Each game has a number of endings, each one catered to the character with which a player completes the tournament. Tekken 3, released in 1997, is considered one of the most popular fighting games of all time.
A number of animated (Tekken: The Motion Picture and Tekken: Blood Vengeance) and live-action (Tekken and Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge) film adaptations have also contributed to the series’ popularity. Along with films, the series has been adapted into comic books.
Bandai Namco Entertainment is a video game publisher based in Japan. The company’s current form is the result of a merger between Bandai (founded in 1950) and Namco (founded in 1955) and was officially renamed in April 2015. Other titles produced by Bandai Namco Entertainment include Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja, and Afro Samurai among others.
