Techland Recovers Publishing Rights For Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

In what has been a confusing and protracted legal rights episode, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and Call of Juarez: The Cartel developer Techland has recovered its publishing rights for Gunslinger from Ubisoft.

Gunslinger was pulled from online retailers last month, but, as of today, the project has returned to its digital storefronts. Interestingly, Techland has recently started its own publishing studio, called Techland Publishing, which muddies the already strange undertones of the developer’s rights loss. The rights were transferred to Techland Publishing, which may have had something to do with Gunslinger‘s retail absence.

Techland Publishing CPO Adam Lanson stated: “As Techland Publishing moves forward as a leading publisher, we are delighted to welcome Call of Juarez: Gunslinger to our publishing division. We would like to thank Ubisoft for its incredible work publishing the Call of Juarez games. We’ll continue the great efforts of Ubisoft and support the fans of the Call of Juarez universe in the same dutiful and passionate way.”

The phrasing within the thanks to its former publishing partner implies that Techland may be working on more titles in the series, sans Ubisoft.
