Thunder Lotus Games’s Lovecraftian Metroidvania, Sundered, will release on July 28, 2017 for PC and PlayStation 4.
The developers announced the release date alongside a new trailer that shows off the game’s eye-catching hand-drawn artistry and introduces the central conflict that faces protagonist Eshe: the choice of whether to resist or embrace the unearthly powers that she is granted during her adventure.
To celebrate the imminent launch, Thunder Lotus is also giving everyone a chance to download a free copy of its previous game, Jotun, through Steam and GOG.com. The free download is only available until the end of the weekend. Furthermore, Jotun is also receiving a physical edition through Limited Run Games, which has also recently handled physical distribution for Firewatch, Broken Age, and Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas.
Sundered takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, with Eshe finding herself trapped in an expansive cavern filled with terrifying, Lovecraft-inspired nightmare creatures. Her fight for survival will lead her to uncover the secrets of the world’s history. Many more details about the game are available in the interview that OnlySP recently conducted with the developers, and DJ Arruda’s hands-on preview is available here.
