Polish developer Tate Multimedia, responsible for developing Urban Trial Freestyle, has announced it has a new game, Steel Rats, releasing in 2018.
Steel Rats is a 2.5D arcade-action game set in a dystopian “retro future world.” The game focuses on high-octane action, stunts, and motorbikes modeled to look like their real-life counterparts. A major focus of the motorcycles, aside from the looks, is on realistic physics systems.
The player will be able to customize their bike and equip special abilities.
The player will be part of a punk biker-gang called the Steel Rats, as they are the last line of defense that can fend off the onslaught of Junk Bots that threaten the safety of Coastal City. Going by the trailer embedded below, all of the action takes place over highly detailed, destructible environments, such as subways, rooftops, and swamps.
At the Game Developers Conference, Steel Rats won the award for ‘Best Gameplay’ at the Game Connection Development Awards ceremony.
