As most of you know, I’m the owner of Only Single Player, but today, I’m here to introduce you to a new project I’m working on. I’ve been building OnlySP for over five years now, and I’ll be honest that I’ve gotten a little burnt out doing it. As much as I love single player games, the recent trend of seemingly every game going open world has really soured my taste and burnt me out.
Every once in a while we get a linear adventure that I’m eager to play through, but after that I’m back playing games like Call of Duty, FIFA, Rainbow Six and the like. As much as I love exploring the worlds developers create, I can only handle so much. I’ve got Mad Max, Fallout 4, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, MGS V and more open world games sitting on my shelf and it’s absolutely overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all great games, but I just don’t have the time or the will to go through and complete everything those games have to offer.
That’s part of the reason I’m opening up this new outlet. It’s time for something different for me and it’s also something I’ve wanted to do for a about a year now. With only another year to go before leaving college, I figured now would be as good a time as any to dive into my next adventure.
So, say hello to Multiplayer Focus, the sister outlet to Only Single Player.
I am not alone in creating this new endeavor, however. Greg Micek, the owner of Cliqist, has joined with me to bring you this new outlet. Greg has been running Cliqist for a number of years now and is an expert on following-up on games and making sure all of their updates are covered. I expect he will bring the same experience to MPFocus so we’re continually keeping you up to date on your multiplayer games.
As the name of the site suggests we will be primarily focused on multiplayer experiences, but our coverage won’t be as widespread as OnlySP’s. We will be covering a group of selected games, both AAA and indie to bring you a variety of focused coverage on your favorite recently released and upcoming multiplayer experiences.
My goal isn’t to make another generic gaming news outlet though. Much like OnlySP, MPFocus will be providing you with a wide range of content ranging from update articles, developer interviews, developer insight pieces, e-sports coverage, reviews, editorials and more. When the site launches on August 1st, we should already have a good batch of content for you to read as we’ve lined up quite a few awesome interviews with developers already.
Over the course of this month our goal is to build up our social media community and spread the word about Multiplayer Focus. If you’re an avid reader of either OnlySP or Cliqist, you should expect great things to come from our exciting new outlet.
