Iron Harvest, the crowdfunded RTS from KING Art Games, has breezed past 50% of its crowdfunding goal less than 24 hours after the campaign began.
Launched earlier today, the developers are seeking USD$450,000 in funding and, as at the time of writing, has acquired $243,644 of that goal, putting it well on track to be an easy success story. One of the selling points of the campaign is that the developers claim to have polled RTS fans to determine a list of desire features. The outcome is a project that prizes tactics over action, agency over set pieces, and strong single-player campaigns.
To that end, the game will feature three campaigns, with each focusing on one of the title’s factions—the Saxony Empire, the Polania Republic, and Rusviet—each of which has three hero characters and over a dozen unit types.
Iron Harvest is set in the World of 1920+, an alternative history universe created by Jakub Różalski, which takes places following WWI and has the world populated by dieselpunk machines that have been appropriated for civilian use rather than for war.
The developers have set a rough release date of December 2019, with two alphas and a beta set to take place prior to that. Additionally, the developers have revealed a host of stretch goals, of which the challenge maps $750,000, skirmish mode at $850,000, and free DLC campaign at $1,500,000 are almost guaranteed to be of the most interest to single players.
Although the team’s latest game, Black Mirror, was poorly received, previous titles, such as The Book of Unwritten Tales and The Dwarves have earned a warmer reception. Iron Harvest is currently expected to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
