Rick and Morty VR Launches Today

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality has today launched on HTC Vive, Oculus, and Oculus Touch , arriving alongside the much-anticipated third series of Rick and Morty.

Based on the popular animated TV show, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality is a virtual reality puzzle game. Gamers play as a clone of Morty as he solves puzzles, aids Rick with experiments, and explores varied locations such as Rick’s Garage, the Smith family home, and extraterrestrial worlds.

Exact plot details are vague, but players can expect the series’s signature dark humour, sci-fi elements, and anarchistic storytelling to play a strong part. [Adult Swim] Games released a trailer last year, which prominently featured the Plumbus (an ill-defined household object in the world of Rick and Morty):

[Adult Swim] Games and Owlchemy Labs are collaborating for the first time on Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality. [Adult Swim] Games published three prior Rick and Morty games: a point-and-click adventure, a smartphone game, and Pocket Mortys, a Pokémon parody game in which players collect Mortys from parallel dimensions. Developer Owlchemy Labs is perhaps best known for 2016’s Job Simulator, although it has been making games for VR and Android since 2010.

Rick and Morty is an [Adult Swim] cartoon that focuses on the relationship between mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty, as they embark on sci-fi adventures. Co-created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland in 2013, the show most recently rose to prominence with the surprise release of the first episode of season three on April Fool’s Day, after a one-and-a-half-year hiatus.
