Quantum Break Developer Reveals First Details of Next Game

Remedy

Remedy Entertainment (Quantum Break, Alan Wake) has announced that its next game, codenamed P7, will be another cinematic third-person action game, while also confirming the title’s previously-rumoured multiplatform status.

These first details emerged today, alongside the revelation that 505 Games (Virginia, Abzû) will act as worldwide publisher for the project. The description provided in the press release indicates that the game will bear strong similarities to Remedy’s previous titles, as both Alan Wake and Quantum Break made use of innovative approaches to storytelling within the third-person action genre. Alan Wake adopted an episodic format similar to television programs, while Quantum Break incorporated live-action segments for some of the narrative elements.

P7, however, will not be continuation of either of those series, instead being “set in a new Remedy-created universe” and featuring the “deepest mechanics” of any game in the developer’s oeuvre. Furthermore, 505 Games is promising a “long-lasting experience,” which suggests that P7 will be not be a strictly linear game.

505 Games made a significant financial investment into Remedy to secure the publishing rights, and, in return, has received an exclusivity period of twenty years, indicating that the new partnership may last for much more than a single game.

Remedy’s last title was Quantum Break, which OnlySP’s Nick Calandra scored 7.9/10 in his review, saying that “while the game isn’t by any means perfect, it’s innovative and we need more of that in the gaming industry.”

Although P7 is currently without a release date, Remedy is targeting the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for the title, making it the developer’s first major game to not be Microsoft exclusive since 2003’s Max Payne 2.

OnlySP will continue to follow the development of P7, so for more information, be sure to bookmark the home page and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
