Piranha Games recently announced that upcoming mech combat game MechWarrior5: Mercenaries will feature full for support mods and Steam Workshop projects, as well as four-player co-op.
During the keynote speech at Mech_Con 2017, the developers revealed new gameplay footage showcasing a variety of mechs in combat, as well as a selection of biomes that will feature in the final game. The game is slated to receive full mod support, empowering players to create and customize missions, mercenary contracts, planetary systems, biomes, and more via developer toolsets and integration with the Steam Workshop. This move will likely delight gamers who enjoy creating custom content for their favorite titles.
Meanwhile, the newly-announced co-op functionality will enable players to host up to three friends inside their campaign universe, undertaking missions together under the banner of the host player’s mercenary unit.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries features intense PvE combat in an immersive, career-based campaign driven by player choice. Set in a futuristic timeline starting in the year 3015, players will take on the role of a new MechWarrior mercenary thrust into a leadership position as the Third Succession War continues to fracture the vast region of colonized space surrounding Earth known as the Inner Sphere. Gamers will seek victory, prestige, and profit gained through skill on the battlefield as well as proper maintenance and enhancement of their BattleMechs.
