Life is Strange 2 Confirmed, Original Team Returning

Square-Enix and DONTNOD Entertainment have announced that they are working on a follow up to true-to-life hit Life is Strange.

DONTNOD Entertainment confirmed via Square-Enix’s blog that the team has begun work on a new entry in the franchise. The team did state, however, that despite this revelation, it would not be able to go into much detail about the new season just yet.

While the blog post also mentioned that the game will not be present at E3 in June (though the developer’s other upcoming game, Vampyr, will be), more information will be divulged “when the time is right.”

The team at DONTNOD also released a video, embedded below, alongside the original blog-post confirming the news.

The team also went on to acknowledge that over 3 million individual players now own the original season of Life is Strange. The game has left an impact on players and is a departure from not only DONTNOD’s typical style of games but also that of Square Enix, delivering an episodic, player-choice influenced narrative that separates itself from the typical action beat-’em-up or RPG.

DONTNOD was also able to confirm that Life is Strange has been in the works since the release of the original’s boxed version. That version of the game released in January of 2016, meaning the team has put in over a year of work on the latest entry so far. The team was not able to confirm whether Max Caulfield or Chloe Price, the first season’s protagonists, would make an appearance in the newest installment.

The original Life is Strange is available on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
