Guess it’s about time I finished my article on how badly Sony has been handling their first party titles as of late.
The Last Guardian has been delayed once again. Luckily for fans of the game, the delay isn’t too long as the game will now release on December 6th. The Last Guardian was originally scheduled to release in October, but you probably wouldn’t know that due to Sony’s lack of any actual marketing for the game.
President of SCE Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida provided a statement to the PlayStation Blog to explain why The Last Guardian has been delayed yet again. Here’s what he had to say:
Fumito Ueda, gen DESIGN and JAPAN Studio have a wonderful vision for The Last Guardian’s touching, emotional journey of friendship and trust, and we want to deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long. A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.
The Last Guardian will (hopefully) release exclusively on the PS4 on December 6, 2016. You can expect an opinion article from me later this week discussing Sony’s mishandling of their first person titles this generation. Regardless of how good some of their first party games have been, getting them into the hands of gamers has been a real struggle.
Stay tuned for more information on The Last Guardian as we have it.
