Toadman Interactive’s debut title Immortal Unchained recently received an announcement trailer, providing an early impression that bears a striking resemblance to the God of War franchise.
In the beginning moments of the trailer, Immortal Unchained’s protagonist is seen shackled in a dark, gloomy room. This central character is similar to Kratos—the protagonist in God of War—in his ashy appearance and toned physique. Moreover, the breaking of the main character’s chains is reminiscent of Kratos doing the same during his mythological journey. However, the similarities begin fading once the yet-unnamed main character steps out of the dark, as he can be seen wielding some kind of rifle in futuristic battle armor, whereas Kratos’s arsenal consisted mostly of melee weapons, such as swords and bladed chains.
Set in a “dark, sci-fi universe,” Immortal Unchained is an action RPG that claims to offer a unique take on third-person shooters. According to the description released alongside the debut footage, “the game’s central character is unwillingly unchained and released by the warden. Given only the instruction that time is running out for the world… you must set off with no memory of who you are or what you do, and find any information you can from the game and the characters you meet.” Watch the full announcement trailer below:
The title’s plot is still largely unknown, but based on the aforementioned description, saving the world seems like a good place to start. No release date has been announced, but the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
