The first new expansion to Horizon Zero Dawn—titled ‘The Frozen Wilds’—will arrive this November on PlayStation 4, featuring an all-new area and additional story content.
Announced back in June at E3 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds will present a new chapter in the story of the fiery-haired protagonist Aloy. Little is known about the premise of ‘The Frozen Wilds’, though Aloy appears to be seeking answers to yet unknown questions. The expansion will take place in a new mountain region filled with mystery and new mechanical beasts for the player to hunt. As such, new skills and additional gear will be unlockable as the story progresses.
Details on Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds remain scarce, but developer Guerrilla Games has now announced a release date for the new content, which is set to release on November 7, 2017. Those who pre-order the expansion through PlayStation Network (PSN) will receive an exclusive ‘The Frozen Wilds’ avatar to personalize their PSN profile.
Originally released on February 28, 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn was met with rave reviews. The game’s rich open world and deep, unique lore were praised by many and has earned the title a top spot on the PlayStation 4’s already impressive roster. Considering Horizon Zero Dawn was Guerrilla Games’s first attempt at an open-world title, the game’s success is an impressive achievement indeed.
