Horizon: Zero Dawn Goes Gold, Photo Mode Announced

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Guerrilla Games’s upcoming open-world RPG, Horizon: Zero Dawn, has officially gone gold, alongside confirmation that the game will feature a photo mode.

Taking to Twitter earlier this week, the studio’s Managing Director Hermen Hulst announced that the PlayStation 4 exclusive has ended active production ahead of its February 28 release date. Shortly beforehand, the studio’s official Twitter page revealed that the game will include a photo mode, taking advantage of the game’s beautiful, expansive vistas and striking aesthetic. Unfortunately, details on how expansive the photo mode will be are not yet forthcoming.

The developer also announced that protagonist Aloy will be voiced by prolific voice actress Ashly Burch, perhaps best known for her role as Chloe Price in 2015’s Life is Strange.

With the game now finished, the development team is able to begin work on other projects, whether that is downloadable content, or an entirely new game. With Horizon: Zero Dawn, Sony and Guerrilla Games have so far bucked the trend of announcing additional content before release, with no mention of a season pass or any standalone expansions yet forthcoming. The developer has traditionally taken a low-key approach to post-release expansion of their games, releasing only a handful of maps for each entry in the Killzone series.

Some members of the press recently had the chance to go hands-on with the title, and the reception has so far been almost overwhelmingly positive, praising the ambition, storytelling, world-building, and gameplay depth.

Guerrilla Games also recently released a story trailer for the title, providing at the overarching conflict and some of the the friends and foes that Aloy will come across in her journey.

Horizon: Zero Dawn was recently chosen as one of OnlySP’s most anticipated games of 2017, and plenty more details on the game can be found in our preview.

The game will be available from February 28, exclusive on PlayStation 4.
