Members of Capcom’s Osaka headquarters divulged some behind-the-scenes secrets in the first “Making-Of” video for the hit return-to-survival-horror game, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard.

Published yesterday on the Resident Evil official Youtube channel, the video, which you can view above, is titled “Making Of Part One: Beginning Hours,” in smart reference to the tech demo of the same name released not long after the official reveal of the game during E3 of last year. Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi, Game Director Koshi Nakanishi, Producer Masachika Kawata, and  staff members from unnamed Capcom “Western divisions” discuss the origins of Resident Evil VII‘s original conception back in 2014 and various design iterations thereafter.

There is even mention of several features that didn’t make the cut, such as an unrealized idea for a Baker family pet. But alas, it was not meant to be.

Capcom and Resident Evil returned home to their survival-horror roots in RE7: Biohazard. Receiving critical acclaim after a January release, the game follows Ethan Winters, who finds himself in Dulvey, Louisiana while searching for his missing wife. He finds a sinister-looking and supposedly abandoned plantation. Ethan soon encounters the mysterious Baker family, who have been missing from the area for some time. Players must unfold all the secrets they can find to solve the mysteries as they make their way through this survival horror experience.

Following its successful January release, Biohazard has received two expansion DLCs, with more on the way. These include the Banned Footage Vol. 1 and 2 packs. Volume 1 contains “Nightmare,” where Sewer Gators cameraman Clancy must craft weapons and ammo to face off against hordes of enemies to survive until morning. Also adding to the heaps of fun already in the main game is “Bedroom,” where Clancy must figure out how to get out of a locked bedroom in the Baker family’s plantation and make his escape, all while avoiding alerting and getting caught by Marguerite Baker. There’s even an infinitely replayable extra game mode called “Ethan Must Die”, which is an extra tough mode that is separate from the events of RE7.

Volume 2, meanwhile, also features two gameplay scenarios and an extra gameplay mode. Players will need to gamble with their own life in a deadly game of “21” with Lucas Baker and then dive deeper into the Baker family’s life before the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard in “Daughters.” An extra gameplay mode titled “Jack’s 55th Birthday” provides a race against the clock as players serve the Daddy of the family, Jack Baker, with tons of treats for his special celebration.

Last but not least, look out for a soon-to-come free DLC called “Not a Hero,” which will introduce players to a new separate storyline away from Ethan ventures in the main game.

Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is now available on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
