EA seems to be making some big changes to their sports line-up this year as FIFA 17 introduces a new engine and gameplay mode to the series.
Revealed today ahead of the upcoming EA press conference, a new story mode has been revealed for FIFA 17, a first for the series. Taking some cues from the Fight Night series, FIFA 17 will have players make their mark ” on and off the pitch as the Premier League’s next rising star, Alex Hunter.”
FIFA 17 will also be ditching the Ignite development engine for EA’s staple engine, Frostbite. The new engine has given the game a very noticeable boost in the graphics department, which is quite evident in the reveal trailer for “The Journey”. Hopefully the story isn’t just shoehorned in and it’s actually interesting.
It will be interesting to see if EA puts story modes into other upcoming EA Sports titles as well like NHL, Madden and NBA Live. It’s expected that FIFA will be the only EA Sports title to use the Frostbite engine this year, with the rest of the sports series to follow suit in 2018.
Stay tuned for a full gameplay reveal at the EA press conference which starts in about an hour and fifteen minutes.
