Newly announced indie studio Ultra Ultra have just announced their first project called ECHO, a new sci-fi stealth action adventure game coming to PC.
Ultra consists of eight developers, most of which previously worked at IO-Interactive which happens to be the developer of the Hitman series, so the team might know a thing or two about stealth in video games. The studio is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and began production on ECHO back in March 2015.
“The studio was born out of a longing for stranger horizons,” according to the developer’s website. “The hardboiled realism of IO is something we greatly appreciate, but our true passion is to create something not of this world. Holding senior positions, it was no easy choice to leave, but in the end we had to make this happen. We are proud of our heritage, and we hope that it will shine through when playing Echo.”
ECHO is being built on the Unreal Engine 4 and will tout a third-person view. The first story details for the game were revealed today along with an intriguing teaser trailer. You can read the story details just below:
After a century in stasis the girl En arrives at her destination: A Palace out of legend, a marvel of the old civilization eons gone, still awaiting its first human occupants. Out here, using forgotten technologies, she hopes to bring back a life that shouldn’t have been lost. But nothing could have prepared her for what she’ll face in the ancient halls below.
The experience starts as a character driven journey of discovery, but as it unfolds it evolves into something altogether more punishing. Gameplay revolves around Stealth and Action, as you face off against the strange workings of this place. You might be quick on your feet and quite able to defend yourself, but everything has consequences here. Whatever your strategy, one thing is certain: You must keep your wits about you if you are to survive the Palace.
ECHO is currently on Steam Greenlight seeking approval. As of right now, the Greenlight page lists ECHO for a Fall 2016 release so it doesn’t sound like the developers will be taking the game to crowdfunding services.
