More Information About Media Molecule’s Dreams Coming This Year

Dreams 2017

A notable absence at Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference yesterday was Dreams, but more news about the title will be available later this year.

Taking to Twitter to congratulate the other Sony Worldwide Studios teams, the team announced that it would be sharing news “soon.” The ambiguous statement was not enough for some fans, who requested a more explicit window and were rewarded with a confirmation of “this year”:

With the game first being teased at the PlayStation 4 reveal event back in February 2013 and officially announced at E3 2015, fans have been waiting a long time to find out more, and hopefully their patience will be rewarded with more than just another trailer. As for the timing, most of the major gaming events for 2017 are over, but The Game Awards event is scheduled for December 7, and Sony’s PlayStation Experience will take place between December 9 and 11, with the new information most likely coming at one of them.

Furthermore, in a post-conference panel, Media Molecule’s studio head Siobhan Reddy suggested that the team is getting close to at least a beta release for the game: “I’m actually really excited about finishing Dreams, and… to get what we’ve been working on out again, and out into the community, and see what people are going to make with it… I just feel it’s going to be a creative explosion.”

For the unfamiliar, Dreams promises an evolution of the “Play, Create, Share” philosophy of LittleBigPlanet, with players able to create characters, levels, stories, and games from scratch in full 3D.
