Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition Will Include Huge Amounts of New Story Content

Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition

Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition, the console port and revamp of 2017’s CRPG hit, will include extensive rewrites to existing dialogue, alongside entirely new content.

A focus of the update is the late game, with many of the 130,000 re-recorded words and 150,000 text changes coming mostly near the end of the story. The rewrites, along with new material, is mostly to make the narrative arcs more substantial. The developers have also promised new scenarios to provide “a greater sense of reactivity across the world.”

Origin stories, the consequences of which are far-reaching in Original Sin II, have also been polished, with the consequences of the player’s choices being made more explicit.

The definitive edition will also boast a wealth of updates. In addition to the story changes, difficulty has been rebalanced in certain places, along with the studio altering certain skills and talents to allow for a more consistent palette of combat choice.

A new boss fight with a kraken has also been introduced, alongside new DLC about Sir Lora, the Squirrel Knight. All of the above will be free for current owners of the game.

Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition launches on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in August. Be sure to revisit OnlySP’s review of Original Sin II, and to follow the site on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
