Dishonored: Death of the Outsider Contracts Can Be Failed, Only Playable Once

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

In addition to the regular optional objectives in Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Arkane Studios will include a new form of side missions only playable once in a regular playthrough.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider’s new side mission system, dubbed Contracts, shows protagonist Billie Lurk’s way of living, which involves doing other people’s dirty work. Contracts pull players away from main missions to give provide a “chance to see something tertiary” and witness “situations along the way from a different angle.” Contracts have a variety of objectives, ranging from finding and kidnapping certain targets to assassinating someone and making it look like an accident, or simply mass-murdering people. Ultimately, completion of any Contract will earn Billie a hefty sum of money, unless she fails.

In a blog post on the official Bethesda website, Arkane Studios said failing Contracts will not reward players with any money. Additionally, Contracts can only be replayed after embarking on an Original Game+ playthough, a game mode the developers will detail leading to the game’s launch.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider concludes the story arc of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin’s assassination, but will be accessible to newcomers due to its standalone tale. Billie and her mentor, Daud, embark on a mission to kill the Outsider, a “supernatural god-like figure” in the Dishonored series.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider will release as a standalone expansion digitally and physically for USD $29.99 on September 15 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
