Amongst all the suspense and wary anticipation regarding Bungie’s Destiny 2, the ex-Microsoft affiliate has released the first gameplay trailer for the sequel to 2014’s action MMORPG.
The trailer gives viewers a look at the new setting in the online-only first-person shooter. The game’s story, which is to be much more in-depth and feature better cutscenes than the game’s predecessor, takes place on Earth. On Earth, players will battle a hostile alien force for control of the planet’s last surviving city. The shift in scenery is a direct change from the several different planets available in the original Destiny.
In addition, Bungie’s Destiny 2 gameplay reveal trailer reveals some new weapons and armor that will replace the exotic equipment players earned in the previous game. Sadly, none of players’ equipment from the first game will carry over to Destiny 2. Watch the full trailer below.
Destiny 2 takes place soon after the events of Destiny. The Guardians’ (player-characters and some non-player-characters) base of operations, The Last City, comes under attack by a militant species known in the first game as the Cabal. Players will take control of their Guardians and defend The Last City from the invaders and save Earth, and humans, from being decimated.
The game is scheduled to release on September 8, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The PC port will be made available exclusively through Activision’s partnership with Blizzard, making Destiny 2 playable through Blizzard’s Battle.net service.
