CI Games Looking to Outsource Lords of the Fallen 2

Lords of the Fallen 2

Following last week’s assurance that Lords of the Fallen 2 is still in development, CI Games has confirmed that it is looking to team up with an external partner for the sequel.

Speaking to Eurogamer, the company’s CEO Marek Tymiński revealed that the groundwork has been completed, but the project will not go into active development until a suitable team is found. “We’ve been working quite a lot on Lords of the Fallen 2… It’s really finding the best teams who can work on that game together, and when we have that setting, we pretty much know what we want to do.”

The game’s former producer, Tomasz Gop (who left the team on the weekend), confirmed that the game is still in pre-production, saying that although he had been working on Lords of the Fallen 2 for “almost two years… [he has] not seen it leave the concept/vision stage.”

Despite these sentiments, Tymiński remains optimistic about the timely release of the game, suggesting that it should be ready for release within two years.

In the interview, Tymiński also clarified last week’s comments about CI Games’s decision to reduce the scope of future productions. Rather than focusing on the blockbuster mentality that powered Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, the team is keeping ambitions in check and, apparently, aiming for the AA sector and games on the scale of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.

Said Tymiński, “We have really high ambitions for our games in the future but it doesn’t mean that they have to be the scale of the current blockbusters… I don’t see CI Games being able to, in the near future, raise even more the production budget and marketing budget and really being able to compete at that blockbuster level. But definitely the studio’s ambitions, and the people who are working for CI, we definitely want to make great games.”
