The upcoming survival-action game Praey for the Gods will incorporate non-linear caves as a way of expanding on the game’s world.
The development team at No Matter Studios has previously mentioned the possibility of including dungeons in the game, and has now confirmed that work on this element has begun. Rather than the straightforward paths found in many games, the developers are “looking into developing multiple paths within caves. Some would be short, some would be longer, and some would have platforming elements.”
To help facilitate those platforming segments and diversify the gameplay, the team has also recently added the ability to leap backwards from walls. Some of the other ‘quality of life’ improvements that have been made since the previous development update include a revised camera system, simplified the controls for the bow and arrow, and begun working on the game’s fourth boss.
Finally, No Matter Studios has announced the the Closed Alpha for Praey for the Gods has been delayed into 2018, resulting from changes to its contents. However, this postponement is not expected to have a significant impact on the final release date, which is currently slated for some time next year on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
The game will cast players as a young woman tasked with hunting down and killing a series of giant creatures, similarly to Team ICO’s Shadow of the Colossus. Unlike its inspiration, Praey for the Gods will include an array of survival mechanics, including hunger, warmth, and weariness, as well as the ability to loot items from fallen heroes.
