Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, the long-awaited prehistoric action game from Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets has received a set of stunning new screenshots.
Few details can be gleaned from the new images, but they provide a fresh glimpse at the ape-like characters that players will control throughout the adventure, as well as myriad environments ranging from overgrown jungles to more open plains. One screenshot features a primate with a child on its back, suggesting that players may be tasked with caring for vulnerable children at certain points in the game.
Despite being announced in 2015, little is known about the project, besides the fact that it is set to follow the course of humanity’s movement beyond Africa. The title was originally envisioned as an episodic series, with each episode taking place in a different historical epoch, though Désilets revealed last year that that model had been dropped. Instead, the project billed as a third-person action game featuring resource management that will enable players to form stories of their own.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is currently without a release date, but will be published by Take-Two’s indie label, Private Division.
