A Plague Tale: Innocence Debut Trailer Shows Off Rat Swarms

A Plague Tale

Asobo Studio and Focus Home Interactive have shown off the debut teaser trailer for the upcoming medieval adventure game, A Plague Tale: Innocence.

Although pre-rendered, the footage captures the atmosphere and core ideas of the game. Beginning with the apparent slaughter of a farming family, the footage soon cuts to the two child protagonists as they attempt to find shelter in a church. Standing in the girls’ way, however, are both an Inquisition soldier and the swarms of rats that give the game its title. The older of the two children, Amicia, uses her slingshot to break the guard’s lantern, which causes the rats to attack:

The various elements outlined above—the presence of soldiers and rats, and the use of light and darkness—are core parts of the experience, but players will also be able to meet up with other orphans across the adventure. The game takes place in Medieval France, with the country caught in the grips of the Black Plague. Amicia and her younger brother Hugo are tasked with finding a way to survive after losing their parents.

More details on the game are available in OnlySP’s previous coverage of A Plague Tale: Innocence.

Asobo Studio is an experienced team of developers, founded in 2002. The developer’s previous credits include 2009’s FUEL and a number of licensed games, though the team has more recently provided support on ReCore, The Crew, and Quantum Break.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is currently without a release window, but will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
